Training With A Water Ball
I’ve been an Olympic skier for most part of my life. I’ve always enjoyed the adrenaline of extreme sports such as skiing. The speed I get when I rush down a snowy mountain slope.
But there’s a lot of things that goes into being an Olympic athlete. You have to have balance strength equilibrium and agility. And you need to train all these the best way possible. And the truth is I have been going to the gym and improving at all these aspects all this time. But I have decided that I need to vary my physical exercising routine in order to improve even more. And so I came up with this idea by watching some videos on the net. I have found out about the water ball. The water ball is a Jan sphere made of plastic, usually transparent, fitted with the some sort of a zipper that keeps the air in or out, and also prevents water from going inside the ball. The water ball, as the name implies, is an inflatable ball that you can place on water. But what purpose you might ask yourself. It is simple, it allows you to walk on water, and thus it’s called water ball. So the idea that I came up with, is improving all my agility and balance in order to be even a better skier, by getting myself one of these water balls and using it inside mount pool. And so I did. I bought my water ball from the Amazon and got it shipped a few weeks later. I have to say that even though it’s made in China, the quality of the water ball is pretty good. The plastic is thick and it seems very sturdy, I don’t think in any way it’s going to get punctured. The quality of the zipper of my water ball is also good. I’ve been using it at least 40 times now and it hasn’t ever allowed any water or air to go inside the water ball. And so I have to say that I’m pretty satisfied with it. I also had to buy myself an electric pump because what you need to do, is to get inside the ball zip the zipper almost all the way, and use an electric operated pump to inflate the ball while you are inside. Once you get it done you push the nozzle out of the ball and you finish zipping the zipper. And now you’re set to go on the water. You make a few small steps on the edge of the pool, and sooner than you know you’re going to be splashing on the pool surface insider water ball. Now the tricky part to try and get to stand upright inside the ball. Since it’s made of plastic, I believe there is very little friction between the ball in the water surface. This being the case, it’s a real feet of agility and balance to even stand upright inside the ball. But once you get this done, you can move on to the next step which is walking. I’ve been using the water ball for two weeks now and for many times, and even though I pride myself with very good balance, I have to admit that I’m still having difficulty standing upright. I managed to walk inside the ball on the pool surface, but running is an issue even for me. Every time I started running inside the water ball, I am up tumbling in very hilarious manners. But I’m sure that the time I’ll get even better at walking on water in my water ball. As I like to say, practice makes perfect, and since I’m a perfectionist and I’m going to give up until I master the water ball. Anyway, overall, I must admit that buying my own water ball is using it in my pool has really helped me gain agility and it was really a fun alternative to going to the gym. I urge anyone who wants to, to get their own water ball and start having fun at home. Just remember to supervise the children if they go inside the water ball. It’s mandatory! |
